{"id":394,"date":"2021-10-10T16:15:47","date_gmt":"2021-10-10T13:15:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scoaladoctorala.unarte.org\/workshop-upfold\/"},"modified":"2022-04-02T11:54:08","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T08:54:08","slug":"workshop-upfold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scoaladoctorala.unarte.org\/en\/workshop-upfold\/","title":{"rendered":"WORKSHOP | UPFOLD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 10.10.2021 the workshop \u2018Upfold\u2019 (Upcycling + Folding) took place, held by designer Alexe Popescu (PhD Student, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year and lecturer at UNArte, FADD | Design), within the 2021 Diploma Festival. The aim of the workshop was to turn &#8211; by folding and cutting (no gluing) &#8211; various packaging into functional objects, created by the designer. Thus, participants could discover how to turn Tetrapak boxes into pencil holders or wallets, subway cards into phone holders or A3 paper sheets into caps. Throughout the festival (8-17.10) visitors had access to an ongoing \u201cupcycling laboratory\u201d, where they could make two of these objects using printed Origami folding diagrams.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop is part of the development of the designer\u2019s doctoral project on the topic of Origami folding structures and contributions to their applicability in product design.
