EXHIBITION | CONFESSION

Ioana Aron (drd. 3rd year) announces her personal exhibition as a confession. The theme she is addressing is not at all comfortable, but that is not the point. The purpose of the exhibition is to challenge visitors to ask themselves certain questions and to reflect on the consequences that sexual abuse has on women.

Ioana chooses to defragment the installation Dans ma rue that she has been working on for more than two years and to exhibit for the first time a part of it.

”The Dans ma rue installaion is an archive of the works and lives of artists from all over the world who emigrated to Paris. The reason for doing this project is to shed new light on the works of artists who in their lifetime were rather considered models or muses. These women are proof that we are not shaped by only one culture, and that history cannot be told from only one perspective. A good example is American artist Carmen Herrera (born in Cuba), whose time in Paris between 1949 and 1953 (during the Cold War) shaped and defined her style.

It is about a historical moment when many women artists learned how to endure, to continue making their art. Their most important weapon was perseverance. From the documentation process to the execution, I relate equally to the artists’ diaries and memoirs as well as to iconic visual elements. Dans ma rue is an installation that brings together scenography, painting, photo collage, video art, and performance.” (Ioana Aron)
