Wednesday 20th April 2022, at the Village Museum “Dimitrie Gusti”, took place the opening of the exhibition of Religious Art, an annual event organized by the Association of Religious Plastic Art and Restoration. The exhibition was opened by art critic Marius Tița.
Vlad Dan Perianu (PhD Student, 2nd year), participates with a work that is part of his PhD project. The work made a month ago, is based on the Brâncușian principle of permutations of volumes between them.
Very interesting is also the history of the two-component elements, parts of other sculptural compositions, bringing to the fore the idea of symbol – logos – the life of forms. The horizontal element was part of a work, made for a symposium in Germany, entitled The Seventh Trumpet. The sculpture, which conveyed a symbolic message, was destroyed by the wind and one element was saved and transferred to another work. The Phoenix Bird is the title of the semi-kinetic work in Romania, which, by removing the upper movable part, provided ideal support for the horizontal arm of the destroyed sculpture. The interdisciplinarity of the volume-colour-word is also present in this installation, which is an important element of the PhD thesis.
The contrast between the horizontal and vertical elements gives the viewer a sense of weighted ascendancy. The vertical body of the work is made of polychrome wood, which has subsequently been patinated by burning.
