EXHIBITION | URBAN INSIGHTS

The exhibition URBAN INSIGHTS Opened in the period 20-31 August 2021 at Galeria 15 DESIGN – Hanul cu Tei, organized by Mihaela Moțăianu (PhD Candidate and assistant professor at UNArte, FADD | DESIGN),  Cornelia Moțăianu (PhD Student, 3rd year and assistant professor at UNArte, FADD | DESIGN) and Maria Mandea (PhD candidate), with the support of the Doctoral School of the National University of Arts Bucharest and the Union of Fine Artists of Romania – Design Branch Bucharest, brought together three artistic research projects carried out within the Doctoral School – UNArte.

In artistic research, we can take a critical view of the creative process, following not only innovation, but also the analysis and substantiation of the directions and assumptions pursued.

URBAN INSIGHTS puts forward methodologies and working tools as well as different views on the City, revealing a multifaceted understanding of the urban environment and also taking a step towards collaborative thinking in terms of the creative approach. The three perspectives cross each other in a joint project by exhibiting individual experiments carried out in the urban environment. The projects highlight the importance of perception and address concepts such as displacement, discovery and play.

Mihaela Moțăianu exhibited the project POEZIA PEISAJULUI URBAN/THE POETRY OF THE CITYSCAPE, which focuses on the concept of movement through a poetic exploration of the urban environment. Cornelia Moțăianu exhibited the project HĂRȚILE VIRTUALE ALE ORAȘULUI/THE VIRTUAL MAPS OF THE CITY, a cultural project presenting ways of recovering the past using infographics. Maria Mandea proposed a part of the project MICUL HAOS/THE LITTLE CHAOS, where she creates characters-toys she places in the urban environment creating a playful dialogue with social contexts and issues.
